Emile Coetzer

Emile Coetzer earned a B.Eng (Mechanical) at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 1984.  He then joined an integrated steel and mining company in South Africa. During the next 10 years he developed into a rounded professional engineer and manager, completed a Productivity Management Diploma with honours and won a 1-year scholarship in the United Kingdom.

His most important contribution, however, was to establish an integrated, world-class condition monitoring team at one of the world’s largest open cast mines, setting an organisation and methodology which is still in force today.

In 1996 Emile joined a leading consultancy in the UK, where he proved his international ability and discovered his talent for consulting.  In 2000 he moved to the exciting frontiers of Western Canada’s oil sands, and then joined energy super major.  Here he progressed to a global advisor with a reputation for delivering consensus and solutions in the “too difficult” category.  It is from this platform that he has launched AAEL.

Emile is a Professional Engineer in the province of Alberta, Canada.
